Dept. of Toxic Substance Control is a department of the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA). The Dept. of Toxic Substance Control manages the Hazardous Waste Management Program for California. The Department's mission is to restore, protect and enhance the environment, to ensure public health, environmental quality and economic vitality, by regulating hazardous waste, conducting and overseeing cleanups, and developing and promoting pollution prevention. Protection of public health and the environment is the focus of all DTSC programs, and all permitting, site cleanup, pollution prevention, environmental technology certification, public participation and education activities are driven by this mandate. |
